Avocado which is also called as butter fruit, is a very delicious creamy fruit that is available in the market all-round the year. It not only tastes wonderful, but is has lot of good properties that it can make your hair very healthy and shiny. If you eat the fruit, there are a load of good nutrition that will keep you in good health.

Now let us see what it does when you apply the fruit externally on your hair along with other ingredients.

As a hair moisturizer

Due to exposure to pollution, bad weather conditions, hard water and many more reasons, our hair gets dried very easily. Avocado works wonder on your hair by moisturizing them in the right way.

Avocado oil, which is available in the market can be either applied on your hair and scalp on a regular basis. It will keep your hair moisturized for a longer duration.

Avocado hair mask can be prepared at home and applied on your hair.

How to make the mask

  • Half or full avocado which is fully ripe (quantity can be decided as per the length/thickness of your hair)
  • 1 full egg (egg white and yolk)
  • Honey
  • 2 or 3 spoons of Olive oil

Mix all the above mentioned ingredients to for a thick paste. Apply the mix on your scalp and full length of your hair. Cover it with a shower cap and leave it 20 to 25 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm or cold water. Please avoid using very hot water as it might dry your hair and also cook the raw egg!!

You can use shampoo and conditioner as usual.


Promotes hair growth

Avocados are high in vitamins B and E, which work at the cellular level to protect and strengthen hair. Vitamin E helps repair damage on the scalp. Vitamin B is essential for hair growth. Avocado locks moisture into hair cells, nourishes hair cells, and strengthens hair roots and strands.

How to make the mask

  • 1 egg yolk
  • Half avocado which is fully ripe

Remove the egg yolk and white separately. Beat the egg yolk until you see froth. Mix the avocado fruit along with beaten egg yolk to form a good thick paste. Apply the mixture on wet hair. Apply thoroughly on the scalp and hair. Massage the scalp for 5 to 10 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm or cold water. You can apply shampoo and conditioner as usual after you rinse off the mask.

Treats dandruff

How to make the mask to treat dandruff

  • 1 full ripe avocado
  • 10 drops of argan oil
  • 2 spoons of honey
  • 2 or 3 drops of tea tree oil

Mash the avocado into a smooth paste. Add the argan oil, honey and tea tree, oil along with the paste. Apply the mask on your scalp and massage the mixture on your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes. You can also apply the paste on your full length of your hair. Wash it off after 20 minutes.

You can use shampoo and conditioner as usual.

Argan oil is used here as it is said to make hair silkier and shinier. Tea tree oil has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that can help you to fight dandruff.

Hair nourishing pack

This pack will help you get a bouncy, shiny and thick hair, when used on a regular basis.

How to make the pack

  • 1 fully ripe avocado
  • 1 fully ripe banana
  • 2 spoon of olive oil
  • Few drops of lavender or jasmine oil for fragrance

Mash the banana and avocado to form a thick smooth paste. Add the oil and mix the contents nicely till smooth. Apply the paste on your scalp and hair. Cover it with a shower cap and rinse it off after 30 minutes. You can use your shampoo and conditioner as usual.

For split ends

To treat split ends, you just have to mash the required amount of avocado based on the thickness or length of your hair. Apply the mashed fruit paste on your scalp and full length of your hair. Wash it off after 20 minutes.

When you have a problem with your hair, avocado is the best fruit you can use right away. Cheers to healthy and shinier hair!
