Blackheads

Blackheads appear in your skin especially in and around your nose, is very irritating just like acne on your skin. It happens when your pores are clogged with dead skin cells and sebum – oil secreted by skin to keep it soft and hydrated.

Blackheads are not caused by dirt or dust in your face, so too much scrubbing on the skin will make it dry and worsen your skin condition. If you have blackheads, let us make sure from the beginning, that scrubbing will not help.

Remedies to remove blackheads

Baking Soda

The easily available baking soda is a simple way to clear your skin. The anti-septic property of baking soda, helps you to have a clear skin.

Method:

  1. Take one spoon or required amount of baking soda in a plastic or ceramic bowl.
  2. Add little to water to the powder and mix well to form a paste.
  3. Apply the paste on the blackheads and leave it for 10 minutes.
  4. Once the paste is dry, rinse it off with lukewarm water.

You can use this remedy twice a week. Make sure that you don’t rub or massage the paste on the affected area.

Tomato

Just like baking soda, tomato also has anti-septic properties that can help you clean the skin and de-clog the pores.

Method:

  1. Mash 1 full ripe tomato along with its skin.
  2. Apply the mashed tomato and its juice on the affected area.
  3. Leave it on the skin for a minimum of one hour. It is better to leave it overnight.
  4. Rinse it with lukewarm water.

The tomato extract helps to dry up the blackheads and it will naturally fall off in the morning. This method can be done once or twice a week.

Lemon

The acidic nature of lemon, helps to dry up the clogged pores and also lightens the skin naturally. The anti-septic property and anti-oxidants present in lemon, keeps your skin clean and clear.

Method:

  1. Squeeze the juice from a lemon.
  2. Add little water to dilute the juice (we need to add water to reduce the concentration of the juice, so that it does not burn or irritate your skin).
  3. Apply the juice on the affected area.
  4. Let it dry or leave it on the skin for 20 minutes.
  5. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Lemon squeezr

Since lemon can dry up the clogged pores, blackheads gets reduced and skin looks bright and fresh. You can follow this method twice a week. You can add a pinch of salt for better results.

As a word of caution, do not let the juice get into your eyes as it can irritate a lot. If you have irritation in the skin after application, rinse if off immediately and apply moisturizer.

Honey and Egg white

Here is another effective method to remove blackheads.

Ingredients required:

  • Egg white from one egg
  • 1 spoon of organic honey

Method:

  1. Beat the egg white until you see foam like froth.
  2. Add one spoon of honey to it and mix well
  3. Apply the paste on the face and concentrate more on the blackheads
  4. Leave it on the skin until you feel the skin has become tight
  5. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer

Honey will make the skin soft and supple and egg white acts as a mask to remove blackheads. You can do this process once a week.

Eggsmaskha

If you do not like the smell from the egg, you can add few drops of your favorite essential oil like lavender, mint, peppermint, etc.

Sugar, lemon and Honey scrub

Sugar and honey is another effective and famous hone remedy to remove blackheads. This scrub removes blackheads from the skin surface.

Ingredients required:

  • One spoon of sugar
  • One spoon of organic honey
  • Lemon juice from one lemon

Method:

  1. Mix all the ingredients mentioned in a bowl to form a paste
  2. Apply the paste all over the face
  3. Slowly and gently massage it on your skin like a scrub for 5 to 10 minutes
  4. Once you finish scrubbing, leave the paste on your skin until it dries
  5. Rinse it off with lukewarm water

Honey and lemon

You can apply skin moisturizer if required.

This method will remove blackheads, lighten your skin and also remove dead skin cells. The honey in this mix keeps your skin hydrated and supple. You can follow this remedy one a week.

As a word of caution, if you have acne or pimple, do not rub your skin harshly. It is better to avoid the pimple/acne area and scrub the areas where you have blackheads only.

Honey and milk strip peel

Both honey and milk have properties that can nourish your skin. When honey and milk are combined, it acts as an adhesive on your skin and removes blackheads.

Ingredients required:

  • One spoon of milk
  • One spoon of organic honey
  • One thin strip of cotton

Method:

  1. Mix milk and honey in bowl and heat it until it is warm.
  2. Mix them well and apply the mix on the blackheads when it is warm.
  3. Once you apply, immediately pat the strip of cotton above it.
  4. Let it dry for 5 to 10 minutes.
  5. Once you feel tight, peel off the cotton strip at one shot from the skin.

You can visibly see blackheads on the strip. Rinse off with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer if necessary.

Honey and cinnamon scrub

This remedy will reduce and remove the blackheads on your skin. Cinnamon powder acts as a scrub that will clear the dead skin cells too.

Ingredients required:

  • One spoon of freshly ground cinnamon
  • One spoon of organic honey

Method:

  1. Mix the freshly ground or crushed cinnamon with honey.
  2. Mix well to form a paste.
  3. Apply the paste all over your face and scrub gently on the affected area.
  4. After the scrub, leave it on your skin for 20 minutes.
  5. Rinse if off with lukewarm water.

  • Sweat it out by steaming
  • Apply a skin toner to tighten the pores (to avoid recurrence)
  • Wash your face frequently with water (to keep your skin hydrated)
