Gram flour is nothing but powdered chick pea. We use chickpea and gram flour for lot of dishes in the kitchen. Gram flour is also a wonderful ingredient to make your skin glow!! It’s been traditionally used by our ancestors when soap/cleansers were not available. After you read the article about the goodness of gram flour, you might stop going to parlors for facial treatments. Wonderful news, right?!

There are different ways to use gram flour on your skin.

To remove excess oil

Gram flour is a very agent to remove excess oil from your facial skin.

  1. Mix gram flour with rose water and curd
  2. Apply the mix like a pack on your face
  3. Leave it for 15-20 mins and wash it with warm water

You can repeat this procedure twice a week for oil free skin.

To increase moisture in skin

For dry skin, you need to make a simple mix with ingredients available in the kitchen.

  1. Mix gram flour with a pinch of turmeric, milk and honey
  2. Apply the mix like a pack on your face
  3. Leave it for 15-20 mins and wash it with warm water

Honey helps the skin to retain the moisture and gram flour cleanses the skin. This mix can be applied on the whole body also, if you have dry skin problems like itching.

To treat acne/pimples

  1. Mix gram flour with a pinch of turmeric, honey, milk and sandal wood powder
  2. Apply the mix like a pack on your skin where there are acne/pimple
  3. Rinse it off with warm water once its dry

Pat dry with a towel and check the acne prone area. The pimple/acne will be dried out. Repeated usage will dry out the pimple/acne.

To lighten your skin complexion

  1. Mix gram flour with milk, honey and lemon extract to form a smooth paste
  2. Apply it on your skin
  3. Slowly scrub it on your skin in circular motion like a scrub
  4. Let it dry for 15-20 mins
  5. Rinse it off with warm water

Repeated usage of this pack with help you get rid of marks, black heads and pimple scars. It removes dead skin cells and gives a refreshing look.

To remove tan

  1. Mix gram flour with a pinch of turmeric, lemon extract and curd
  2. Apply the mix on the tanned skin (face, neck, hands or legs)
  3. Let the pack to dry and rise it off with warm water

You can repeat the procedure on a daily basis for better results.

For removing blemishes and cleaning pores

If you have had acne prone skin or suffering from acne problem currently, you might be facing issues of having blemishes on your skin. You can also use the same pack if you have open pores on your facial skin. Open pores absorbs dirt easily, which can make your skin look dull.

  1. Mix gram flour with 2 spoons of cucumber juice and lemon extract
  2. Apply the pack evenly all the affected area
  3. Leave it to dry for 20 mins
  4. Rinse with warm water and pat dry your skin

Repeat the procedure two or three times a week for better results.

To remove unwanted facial hair

Using gram flour to remove unwanted facial hair is an age old trick. Our ancestors used to apply the pack on girl babies, to cleanse and remove unwanted hair. It really works!!

  1. Mix gram flour with required amount of water to make a thick paste
  2. Apply it all over your face, leaving the eyebrows
  3. Massage it slowly in circular motion on your skin
  4. Keep adding drops of water as you massage, as the mix tends to get dry
  5. Wash it away with warm water once you finish massaging

You can visibly notice that fine facial hair has been washed away.

To remove blackheads/whiteheads

  1. Mix gram flour with a pinch of fenugreek powder, turmeric powder and water
  2. Apply it on the affected area
  3. Massage gently in circular motion for 5-10 mins
  4. Wash it off with warm water

Repeat the procedure one a week for good results.

As a Face wash

Gram flour can be used as a daily face wash instead of all the chemical ones available in the market.

  1. Mix dry gram flour and an equal proportion of moong dal powder
  2. Add required of turmeric along with it
  3. Store in a container and keep it in your bathroom
  4. Take required amount of the mix in your hand and add water
  5. Use it like a scrub and leave it on your skin for a minute
  6. Rinse it off with warm water

Its gives a smooth and healthy glowing skin.

Please note: You might be allergic to any of the ingredients in the above mentioned packs. I recommend you to do a small test (patch test) by applying the mix on a small part of your skin (1 inch) and check if you are allergic. As most ingredients mentioned are commonly used, you may not have any side effects.
