Jaggery is a traditional raw sugar consumed in Asia and Africa. It has two different colours, dark brown and golden brown. Jaggery is made of sugarcane juice and date palm tree. Jaggery has another name called gurh. It is used as an ingredient in the preparation of sweets and savory dishes. Jaggery is largely produced and consumed in Maharastra.

For many years, jaggery was the only real sweetening agent. This is one of the purest sorts of sugar, cheap, delicious and good for health.

    I must say that I wasn’t aware of all those benefits of jaggery that you have mentioned i was eating it since long time but only know that it’s richest source of iron and improves digestion. Thanks to you that now i know many other benefits which makes it more delicious.
