Minor cuts and wounds are very frequently occurring injuries when you work with any type of tool or even you fall down. Kids are highly prone to cuts and wounds while playing. Most of the wounds heal by themselves when you leave it open, some need attention.

I have listed a set of remedies that can help you cure the cuts and wounds that are minor or small.

When there is excessive bleeding or the cut is big/deep, you will need medical attention once you have done your first aid/home remedy.

Symptoms may be like – inflammation, redness, blood clot, mild bleeding, acute pain in the spot, burning sensation and sometimes visible pus.

Home remedies to treat minor cuts and wounds

Clean the wound

First thing you need to do once you get hurt, is to clean the wound. Expose the wound in clean running water for 5 to 10 minutes. Best way is to clean the wound in flowing tap water that is cool. Once you clean, pat towel dry the wound and apply antiseptic liquid like Dettol.

This process will help you remove dirt, torn skin and reduce pain. You can either put a bandage or leave the wound open.

Honey

Applying organic raw honey on the cuts and wounds will help the wound to heal quickly. It works like an antibiotic as it is antibacterial by nature. It keeps the tissue free from damage and soothes the irritated skin.

Method

  1. Clean the wound.
  2. Pat dry the affected area with a soft towel.
  3. Apply honey on the affected area.
  4. Leave it on the skin for 15 to 20 minutes.

You can leave the honey on skin overnight for better results. Honey also helps to keep the skin hydrated, which will reduce pain when skin stretched. You need not cover the wound after applying honey.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has amazing health benefits and it is considered one of the best oils for skin.

It has many important properties like anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and moisturizing agent.

Method

  1. Clean the wound.
  2. Pat dry the affected area with a soft towel.
  3. Apply virgin coconut oil on the wound.
  4. Leave it on the skin.
  5. You need not rinse it off.

Leaving coconut oil on the affected area overnight can heal the wounds faster. It is advised to leave the wound open and do not cover with a bandage or plaster. You can apply coconut continuously many times a day.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a very important ingredient in all type natural medicines, especially in India. Most of the medicines or home remedies contain extract of turmeric in them. It is naturally an anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-septic. The Curcumin in Turmeric heals wounds and cuts very quickly.

Method

  1. Clean the wound.
  2. Pat dry the affected area with a soft towel.
  3. Mix required amount of turmeric with few drops of clean water.
  4. Apply the mix on the clean wound.
  5. Let it dry and leave it for 15 minutes.

You can leave the wound open and rinse later if required. Turmeric has the power to even stop the bleeding. Turmeric can be applied even while it is bleeding.

Wild turmeric

Aloe vera gel and the cut leaf has the power to cure and soothe a cut wound.

Method

  1. Clean the wound.
  2. Pat dry the affected area with a soft towel.
  3. Cut open a fresh aloe Vera leaf and extract the gel inside the leaf.
  4. Apply the gel on the wound.
  5. Leave it for 3o minutes and rinse with cool water.

The gel can reduce the irritation in the skin and also cure the wound faster.

Tea Tree oil

Tea tree oil can heal the wound quickly and also keep infections at bay.

Method

  1. Clean the wound.
  2. Pat dry the affected area with a soft towel.
  3. Apply few drops of tea tree oil on the wound.
  4. Leave the oil on the skin for 30 minutes.
  5. Rinse off with cool water if required.

Wounds and cuts can be cured faster, if the oil is left on the skin overnight. You can apply tea tree oil 4 to 5 times a day.

Lavender oil

Lavender oil is very effective when it comes to burns, cuts and wounds. It helps in quick regeneration of tissues. It also helps to reduce the intensity of scars.

Method

  1. Clean the wound.
  2. Pat dry the affected area with a soft towel.
  3. Apply few drops of lavender oil on the wound.
  4. Leave it on the affected area for 30 minutes.
  5. Rinse it off with cool water if required.

Like any other oil, leaving it overnight can help you see better results.
