Asthma is a disease that affects the airways of the lungs. Tomatoes are found to be one of the best remedies for asthma. Tomato contains a powerful antioxidant called lycopene, which fights the asthmatic cells. Regular intake of tomato drink with dry ginger and pepper powder gives you a great relief from asthma.

Research evidence(s)

Evidence 1

Treatment with both tomato juice and extract reduced airway neutrophil influx. Treatment with tomato extract also reduced sputum neutrophil elastase activity. In conclusion, dietary antioxidant consumption modifies clinical asthma outcomes.

Evidence 2

Lycopene, an antioxidant derived from whole tomatoes, may alleviate exercise-induced asthma (EIA), according to a double-blind trial. To reach that conclusion, Israeli researchers first gave 20 EIA patients a placebo and measured their pulmonary function after treadmill testing.
