homemade baby massage oil

Before giving a bath to your little one, always massage with a herbal oil to provide nourishment. Here are the steps to make a homemade baby massage oil.

Sesame oil for skin and hair

Sesame oil is rich in EFAs or Essential fatty acids which includes linoleic acid and palmitic acids. This linoleic acid has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. The oil has substantial amounts of antioxidants which get absorbed into the skin easily and helps to fight various skin diseases and infections.

For the hair, sesame oil will reduce itchy scalp, prevent dandruff, makes the baby’s hair soft, silky and well nourished.

Sesamol, the compound present in sesame oil which keeps the skin soft for years. This oil can be continued throughout the years for healthy skin. It is not only good for the skin but also penetrates well to prevent joint inflammation, skin issues such as rashes and acne and also strengthens bones.

Fenugreek seeds

Fenugreek seeds when ground and directly used as a pack can be good for healthy hair – but this is only suitable for adults. This pack is a great coolant and is good to improve hair growth and keep the body cool. But for babies, too much fenugreek would not be suitable. It will cause common cold and cough – hence fenugreek seeds are used in moderation along with the sesame oil.

For the skin, fenugreek seeds are useful to prevent itching of the skin and soothes the baby’s tender skin.

It can also prevent any sort of inflammation or rashes due to mosquito bites.

Why do we use camphor for this oil?

Camphor is used because this helps to prevent common cold. It works as a decongestant and nervous pacifier. Its aroma helps to soothe the baby and promotes good sleep.

Note: Use cold pressed sesame oil which is organic. Heat the oil along with the other ingredients till the oil is hot. Then leave it for a while till it becomes warm. Massage with the oil while it is still warm.
