Acne is a very common problem among youngsters and even middle aged people. It affects the skin that is clogged by oil and dirt in pores. Acne can appear in any part of your body. But it mostly affects the face, neck, chest and shoulders. The affected area sometimes leaves a scar that never fades until you treat it. There are chances that acne can also spread from one spot to another in your body.

It is best to treat them rather than waiting for it to go away. There are lot of medications and creams available in the market to cure acne. When you have good and easy means to clear acne in a more natural way with mint leaves (Pudina), why go for harsh chemicals.

Let’s see the how mint leaf helps you cure acne.

Mint leaves are rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin C. They are both essential to give you a clear skin. Mint leaves acts on your skin by blocking or restricting an enzyme called tyrosinase, which is responsible for melanin secretion. The menthol in mint leaves soothes the skin and also facilitates the healing process.

There are different ways in which you can use mint leaves for acne treatment.

Mint leaves paste

Applying mint leaves paste on your skin can help you reduce and cure acne quickly.

  • Choose 10 -15 fresh mint leaves.
  • Grind it or crush it with few drops of water.
  • Apply in on the affected area.
  • Let it till dry or leave it for 30 minutes.
  • Wash it off with lukewarm water.

You can also store the crushed leaves in refrigerator for some time before applying.  It will then become cold make you feel relaxed. You can do the process daily, or if you don’t find time, follow it 4 times a week.

Mint leaves with lime and basil (Tulasi)


  • Choose 10 -15 fresh mint leaves.
  • Take an equal amount of tulasi (basil) leaves.
  • Grind or crush them together to make a paste.
  • Strain the paste to get an extract (You can use a piece of cloth to strain the paste).
  • Add few drops of lemon juice to the mint and tulasi leaf extract.
  • Apply the mixture on the affected area and let it stay for 30 minutes.
  • Wash it off with lukewarm water.

Mint leaves when combined with tulasi and lemon, heals the scar quickly and also lightens your skin.

Mint leaves and oats


  • Crush 10 – 15 fresh mint leaves.
  • Take the extract from the crushed leaves by squeezing or straining (You can use a piece of cloth to strain the paste).
  • Add the mint leaves juice or extract to a spoon of oats.
  • Blend them nicely and apply it like a scrub on the affected area.
  • Wash it off with cold water.

This combination can exfoliate the skin, remove the dead cells and also moisturize the dry acne prone skin.

To get clearer skin

Ingredients required:

  • Half cucumber
  • 1 spoon milk powder
  • 1 spoon curd or yogurt
  • 10 – 15 chopped mint leaves


  1. Mix all the ingredients together and blend them in a blender or in a mixer. This will become a thick paste. Apply all over your face and other affected areas like a mask. Rinse with cold water.
  2. This pack will cool your skin and give you a radiant glow. You can apply the mask once or twice a week.

Mint leaves with multani mitti

This is a great combination for people who have acne and oily skin. People who have normal skin can also use this pack.

  • Crush 10 – 15 fresh mint leaves to make a paste.
  • Add the paste to a spoon of dry multani mitti (fuller’s earth).
  • Add required quantity of rose water to make a paste.
  • Apply the paste on the affected area like a mask.
  • Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Fuller’s earth absorbs excess oil in your skin and leaves the skin moisturized. Mint leaves will do their magic to make the acne and scars disappear in few weeks. You can use this pack twice a week.

Mint leaves and honey

This is good combination for people who have dry skin. People who have normal skin can also use this pack.


  • Crush 10-15 fresh mint leaves to make a paste.
  • Add few drops of honey to the paste.
  • Blend them nicely and apply on the affected area.
  • Rinse it off with cold water after 30 minutes.

This pack can be applied on a daily basis. Honey moisturizes the skin and mint leaves get rid of the acne.

Mint tea

It is said, when you consume mint leaves, it also works wonders on your body health. You can try drinking cool mint leaf juice along with lemon and honey for taste. It is a refreshing drink for summer and also detoxifies your internal system.
