Pomegranate for heart halth

Pomegranate flowers (Punica granatum flowers) are the bright orange flowers that bloom in pomegranate plants. These flowers have multiple health benefits and can give you a healthy heart. The drink made in this recipe uses dried pomegranate flowers, cardamom and turmeric to boost heart health.

Health benefits of pomegranate flowers:

  • Helps to reduce symptoms of fatty liver and ameliorates the condition.
  • Can treat diabetes effectively. It is seen to be effective for both Type I and Type II diabetes.
  • Can diminish cardiac fibrosis in affected patients.
  • The juice of pomegranate flowers can be applied externally to treat eye problems and to prevent eye related diseases.
  • The flowers have therapeutic properties and has been used in Ayurveda for centuries to improve overall health.
  • A face pack made from the flowers can have excellent toning properties and can purify skin. It is suitable for all skin types as well.

Pomegranate flowers can also be made into a tea and consumed for overall health. However, this recipe is more useful for heart health or to treat diabetes.

Note: This drink tastes bitter and you can add a little honey if you don’t like the bitter taste. But if you are diabetic, consume the drink as it is since this pomegranate drink can also reduce diabetes.

Here is the recipe.

Pomegranate flowers drink for a healthy heart

  • 5-6 flowers Dried Pomegranate flowers
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cardamom powder
  1. You will need dried Pomegranate flowers, powdered cardamom and powdered turmeric.
  2. Take the dried pomegranate flowers in a blender.
  3. Add both the powders and blend together well into a fine powder.
  4. You will get a fine powder like this. Sieve it if it is not fine enough to dissolve.
  5. Take two teaspoons of the pomegranate flowers powder in a cup.
  6. Pour water into the cup.
  7. Stir well till the powder dissolves completely.
  8. And done!


Drink 200 ml of this pomegranate flowers drink 5 times a week for a healthy heart.

    How to preserve promogranate flowers as I keep out of my place and do not find promogrNate being grown….I am advised to chew two fresh flowers everyday on empty stomach, I would indeed be highly grateful if you could suggest suitable preservative to keep them nearly as good as fresh, keeping nutrients intact.

    I would suggest you buy dried flowers. They are still very nutritious and easier to preserve in an air tight container.
