How to use thazhuthaazhai to cure sprain

Thazhuthaazhai leaves are called as Punarnava in Sanskrit. This herb been in use since ancient times to treat health related ailments. Thazhuthaazhai has many medicinal properties in it that is used to treat pain in joints and muscle, internal body pain, eye disorders, skin related issues, itchiness and constipation.

Since thazhuthaazhai leaves are commonly found in many places, fresh leaves can be used for treating ailments. Dry leaves and herbal powder are also available in shops. This DIY explains how to cure sprain using thazhuthaazhai leaves and castor oil.

Benefits of thazhuthaazhai leaves: Thazhuthaazhai leaves contains anti-inflammatory property that relieves pain in the muscles and joints internally. When applied externally, essence of the leaves penetrate the skin and relaxes the muscle. It also reduces the inflammation caused due to injury. Thazhuthaazhai leaves can be used to treat mild level of sprain and muscle cramps. When the pain is severe and injury seems big, thazhuthaazhai leaves may not give complete relief.

How to use Thazhuthaazhai (Punarnava) to cure sprain – DIY

  • 2 teaspoon Castor oil
  • 5 or 6 Thazhuthaazhai leaves ((Punarnava))
  1. To cure sprain, you need Thazhuthaazhai leaves (Punarnava) and castor oil.
  2. Clean the leaves and chop it.
  3. Add castor oil to a pan and heat it.
  4. Add chopped leaves to oil. Saute it and switch off flame.
  5. Ready to use.

Directions for use:

  1. Clean the affected area with warm water.
  2. Apply the leaf mix like a poultice on the affected area.
  3. Leave it on the sprain for 20 minutes.
  4. Rinse it off with warm water.

Use this poultice twice a day to find relief.
